✈ TRIP REPORT | Wizz Air A320 Bucharest to Southend W63035
Hello and welcome to SOUTHEND AVIATION!
Todays trip report takes us back home to London Southend Airport with Wizz Air on board their A320!
This trip report begins at Bucharest Otopeni airport after previously landing from SEN with Ryanair. Having already checked in for my flight online, I was able to go straight through to security. Security at Bucharest took about 10 minutes but the entire terminal felt quite hot and stuffy. As well as this the terminal is incredibly outdated and this is apparent from both the outside and in. My gate number was announced long before departure as there were no other flights departing from there. I had plenty of time to kill in OTP and managed to find a quiet area to watch the departing aircraft on RWY 26R. Eventually I moved over gate 34, a bus gate. Usually I dont mind a free bus tour around an airport but they really crammed us in! We drove over towards the south apron, had a great view of the DHL 757. You really dont realise how big the 757 is, I thought it was a 767 until we got closer.
We pulled up outside our aircraft, HA-LWR a pink nosed A320 delivered new to Wizz in 2013. Unfortunately the aircraft still had the old seats, which are an ugly dark maroon colour. The new ones have a purple and pink seats which I feel suit the airline better. I chose seat 5F on this flight, reserved for £14. Tray table is not adjustable and seemed fairly high up. Seat pocket contains a safety card, waste bag and Wizz Airs in flight magazine/menu. We pushed back 10 minutes late which wasnt an issue as we landed bang on time. We taxied out to RWY 08R via C and G and departed using flex 56. Flight time was 3 hours 10 minutes at a cruise altitude of 36,000 feat (FL360). The flight seemed to go on forever, nothing to do with the airline but I guess I was tired and can never really sleep on flights. The flight was smooth throughout and we commenced our descent into London Southend just south of the Netherlands. We landed on RWY 23 at Southend and backtracked the RWY turning off at taxiway B. Many thanks to Mike Batson who was kind enough to get some video and pictures of my arrival. Thanks for the flights Wizz!
